When we set out to create the perfect Gin and perfect Vermouth to go in a
Negroni, we wanted to make sure the two together led to a pristinely
balanced cocktail. That is, after all what defines the perfect expression of this drink
– the precise contrast between sweetness and bitterness; richness and freshness;
depth and elegance; subtlety and intensity. It should be at once fruity and secondary,
complex, layered and long. This limited run brings VRSD No.1 Gin, VRSD No.2
Vermouth and Aperitivo together in harmony.
Tasting Note
Complexities of orange – bitter peel and pith, aromatic oil, fresh juice, give way to
subtleties of rose, caramelised strawberry, and rhubarb from the vermouth, juniper and
lemon from the gin. Charred grapefruit, boozy cherry and pink pepper appear on the
back end of the palate. Texturally it’s smooth and slightly viscous from sweetness, yet
bitter and with just a hint of heat from alcohol. The length is never ending as aromatic,
sweet, incense lined orange notes linger and drift away.
Pour 90ml over ice. So good you don’t even need the orange garnish.
